Our membership has grown and all,
but that piece of property,
it's going to be
especially expensive.
>> I think we should buy the land, Jared.
It'll be a great location,
and we could build the church
exactly the way we want it.
>> Yeah.
>> Let's draw up a fundraising plan to buy it.
We can estimate approximately
what we'll need from each member
over the period of years
for our mortgage,
then -- >>
Slow down, everybody.
Remember what happened
with the remodeling plans?
We asked the designer
to draw up the plans
before we had a clear idea
of what we really wanted,
and we ended up having
to start all over again.
We need to think this through carefully.
>> Sharon, we haven't done any analysis
of our needs as a congregation.
What do we want to be able to do
that we can't do already?
Let's just back up. We're getting
ahead of ourselves here.
>> Right, Jared. We need
to assess our needs first.
Then we'll know whether we need
to build a new church,
buy an existing building,
remodel this one, or dos something else.
First, let's decide why we think
this facility isn't adequate.
Reverend?
>> Well, for the past three Sundays, we've had to
set chairs in the aisles in the sanctuary.
Our church is just too small.
>> And the Hospitality Committee
tried to meet on Wednesdays [Scoffs]
but we couldn't find a space.
We've ended up having to meet at my house.
>> And there's no place big enough
for the youth fellowship meetings anymore.
>> And the Sunday-school classes
are still cramped.
