trying to cross
National Avenue,

one student was killed.
So the administration
has asked us to suggest
what might make the pedestrian
crosswalk a little safer.
I know this wasn't on our
initial list of priorities,
but the administration views this as one
of their top student issues.
So is it okay if we brainstorm
some of the possibilities?
>> Sure.

Let me review the rules for brainstorming.
First, everybody should feel free
to throw out their ideas, no matter how crazy,
and no one is allowed to criticize
or evaluate any of the ideas.
We'll evaluate them at our next meeting.
Second, we need to come up with
as many ideas as possible.
So quantity is our goal here, okay?
So I'll write down the ideas
on the chart as you call them out.

>> Put in a stoplight to stop the cars.
>> We could build a tunnel
for students to cross the street.
>> Or an overpass.
Or better yet, give the students
jet packs, like "The Jetsons."
[Laughter] >> We could build a wall
to prevent crossing other than at the crosswalk.
>> Put speed bumps on the street
to slow the traffic.
>> Close off the streets
and build a pedestrian mall.
>> We could reduce the speed limits.
>> Eliminate students.
